Visitors!

Brief puppy update:
Midas and Mella have finally killed Bushmeat II. His head is on the fence, "Game of Thrones" style.
Midas has developed both a taste for beer and a passion for crosswords. We're only letting him lick the bottle so far. Mella is learning how to sit on the couch properly.

Baby teeth are being lost rapidly, but so far our furniture is relatively unchewed.
Thanks to Kari and Dave we now have a recipe for homemade dog biscuits. They are very similar to rusks.
Visitors!
Last week, we had Tyler Faith come stay for a few days before his trip to Kenya. We took him out to Walter Sisulu botanical garden about 30 minutes outside of Johannesburg, where we opted for the "Geology Hike".

First, a brief restorative was necessary.
Along the way, we saw nesting Black Eagles,
and a profusion of Protea.
Over the weekend, Karen Redden, her Mom Cindy and her best friend Jacki came by to meet the dogs.

Turns out they were staying in a guest house a mere two blocks away while Karen was at a conference!

<--This guy  is Jeffrey, their trip Mascot. Midas was quite a fan.

Here's a view from the top of the hill in the neighborhood,
Pop quiz: here's a sign - figure out what it means:
and here's a great new invention we found at the liquor store - whiskey in a bag, at last! Drop a few of these in your pocket next time you've got to go down to the Registry of Motor vehicles!

  1. I can only guess that the sign means "no standing next to a table under an umbrella while there is a pile of oranges on it".

And whiskey in a bag, genius!!!

  3. I'm pretty sure Haley has it right! AKA no street soliciting produce. I am just curious to find out when you realized you married "Al Bundy". Technically he should be wearing long pants but I'll chaulk that up to "modernazation". That view from the top is pretty amazing! You need to send me a site where I can find a bike to ride when I get there!

  4. "illegal re-rack, no cup stacking allowed....but you're not allowed to play beer pong here anyway, so clean it up people and bring your umbrella with you....keg stands o.k."
